Marjal’s tourism subsidiary increases capital by €4.6 million to finance its expansion

The group owned by the Gómez and Fur families plans to create a chain of resorts along the Mediterranean coast

Capital increase together with Corpfin Capital to finance its expansion plan in holiday resorts

Marjal and its partners from Corpfin Capital have decided to inject €4.6 million into the capital of the group’s tourism division—Servicios Turísticos Marjal S. L.—to finance the expansion that the company has begun this very summer with the acquisition of the Els Prats Village campsite, in the Tarragona town of Mont-roig del Camp. The transaction was recorded yesterday in the Official Gazette of the Commercial Registry and was confirmed to this newspaper by the group’s chairman, Francisco Gómez. As a result, the company’s total capital is now close to €21 million.

It was in mid-last year when the founding families of Marjal—the Gómez and the Fur—sold half of the group’s tourism division to the Spanish fund with the aim of launching an expansion plan to build what they expect to become one of the largest holiday resort chains on the Mediterranean coast, based on the two campsites they already operated in Guardamar and Crevillent.

Since then, the company’s executives have been analysing various options until, finally, last August, the first acquisition was completed with the purchase of the Mont-roig facilities. A transaction that the partners have chosen to finance through the aforementioned capital increase, according to Gómez.

The Els Prats Village camping resort adds 451 pitches to Marjal Resorts, of which 75 are accommodation units (apartments and bungalows), on a surface area of 85,000 square metres on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. According to initial estimates, the incorporation of the site will increase the company’s current revenue by up to 50%. In the medium term, the firm aims to double its current number of establishments through new acquisitions along the Mediterranean coast.
