{"id":3330,"date":"2019-01-16T17:20:38","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T16:20:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brandipruebas.com\/?p=3330"},"modified":"2026-04-27T00:42:55","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T22:42:55","slug":"la-inversion-del-capital-privado-en-2018-se-situa-cerca-de-los-6-000me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brandipruebas.com\/en\/la-inversion-del-capital-privado-en-2018-se-situa-cerca-de-los-6-000me\/","title":{"rendered":"Private Equity investment in 2018 stands close to \u20ac6.0 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ascri.org\/nota-de-prensa-estimacion-cifras-ano-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"176\" height=\"101\" src=\"https:\/\/brandipruebas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ascri-logo-azul@2x.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3201\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.7426227834314694;width:205px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brandipruebas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ascri-logo-azul@2x.png 176w, https:\/\/brandipruebas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ascri-logo-azul@2x-18x10.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 176px) 100vw, 176px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sector closed last year with a historic figure in terms of investment volume, \u20ac5,843.5M, due to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strong activity of&nbsp;<strong>international funds<\/strong>&nbsp;(they represented 77% of the total investment volume).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A historical maximum in the&nbsp;<strong>middle market<\/strong>&nbsp;(transactions between \u20ac10M and \u20ac100M), with a total volume of \u20ac1,467M across 56 investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>8 megadeals<\/strong>&nbsp;(transactions of more than \u20ac100M) closed during this period (3 of which were around \u20ac1,000M).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domestic private entities raised&nbsp;<strong>new funds (fundraising)<\/strong>&nbsp;amounting to \u20ac151.3M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Divestment recorded a volume of \u20ac2,049M (at cost) after closing a total of 295 deals.&nbsp;<strong>desinversi\u00f3n<\/strong>&nbsp;registr\u00f3 un volumen de 2.049M\u20ac (a precio de coste) tras cerrar un total de 295 deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Madrid, January 16, 2019. According to the initial estimates obtained by ASCRI through the European platform EDC, investment volume in Spain reached \u20ac5,843.5M last year (a record for the second consecutive year), distributed across a total of 670 investments, which represents a clear sign of the strong dynamism of the Spanish Private Equity sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As pointed out by Miguel Zurita, chairman of ASCRI, \u201cwe have had two consecutive years of record investment volume, which is excellent news not only for the Private Equity sector, but for the Spanish economy as a whole. Even so, dependence on international managers and investors remains very high; therefore, it is important to move forward in developing a competitive legal and tax framework compared to the rest of Europe that facilitates access for domestic institutional investors to the asset class and allows the development and expansion of domestic managers. From ASCRI, we are working intensively to achieve these improvements, convinced that they would have a positive impact beyond our sector, also on the business fabric and on Spanish savers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>According to the type of investor<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>international funds<\/strong>&nbsp;continue to show strong interest in Spain, being responsible for&nbsp;<strong>77% of the total invested volume<\/strong>&nbsp;after participating in&nbsp;<strong>118 investments<\/strong>. Los&nbsp;<strong>inversores nacionales privados<\/strong>. Domestic private investors,<strong>&nbsp;454 inversiones<\/strong>, mientras que los&nbsp;<strong>inversores nacionales p\u00fablicos<\/strong>&nbsp;protagonizaron&nbsp;<strong>98 inversiones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Por tama\u00f1o de las inversiones<\/strong>, el&nbsp;<strong>middle market<\/strong>&nbsp;alcanz\u00f3 m\u00e1ximos hist\u00f3ricos, al acaparar un volumen de&nbsp;<strong>1.467M\u20ac<\/strong>&nbsp;en&nbsp;<strong>56 inversiones<\/strong>, demostrando su relevancia en la dinamizaci\u00f3n del sector en nuestro pa\u00eds. De acuerdo al n\u00famero total de inversiones, el&nbsp;<strong>84% de las mismas<\/strong>&nbsp;recibi\u00f3&nbsp;<strong>menos de 5M\u20ac<\/strong>&nbsp;en t\u00e9rminos de equity. Adem\u00e1s, se cerraron<strong>&nbsp;8 megadeals (operaciones que superan los 100 M\u20ac)<\/strong>, por una suma de<strong>&nbsp;3.697M\u20ac (63% del volumen total)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Seg\u00fan la fase de desarrollo del proyecto<\/strong>, destac\u00f3 la inversi\u00f3n en&nbsp;<strong>buy outs<\/strong>&nbsp;con un volumen de&nbsp;<strong>3.529M\u20ac<\/strong>&nbsp;en&nbsp;<strong>50 inversiones<\/strong>. Respecto al&nbsp;<strong>capital expansi\u00f3n (growth)<\/strong>, se realizaron&nbsp;<strong>96 deals durante este periodo hasta alcanzar una cifra de 606M\u20ac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Venture Capital<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La inversi\u00f3n de los fondos de Venture Capital se mantuvo elevada confirmando la tendencia de ejercicios precedentes, con un volumen de&nbsp;<strong>417M\u20ac<\/strong>&nbsp;en un total de<strong>&nbsp;510 operaciones<\/strong>. Los fondos privados internacionales de Venture Capital cerraron 2018 con el mejor registro en cuanto a n\u00famero de inversiones: 84 deals. Del total, 340 inversiones fueron protagonizadas por los fondos nacionales privados y 86 por fondos p\u00fablicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para el conjunto del Venture Capital &amp; Private Equity espa\u00f1ol, los&nbsp;<strong>sectores<\/strong>&nbsp;con mayor&nbsp;<strong>volumen<\/strong>&nbsp;de inversi\u00f3n captada fueron Energ\u00eda y Recursos Naturales (20,4%), Hosteler\u00eda\/Ocio (17,9%) y Comunicaciones (17,8%). En t\u00e9rminos de&nbsp;<strong>n\u00famero de inversiones<\/strong>, los sectores m\u00e1s relevantes fueron Inform\u00e1tica (46%), Productos de Consumo (9,1%) y Medicina\/Salud (7,2%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fundraising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>fundraising (fondos levantados para invertir)<\/strong>&nbsp;captado por parte de los&nbsp;<strong>inversores nacionales privados<\/strong>&nbsp;alcanz\u00f3 la cifra de 2.151,3M\u20ac, en una muestra adicional del creciente inter\u00e9s de los institucionales por el capital privado espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Divestments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estimated divestment volume in 2018 was \u20ac2,049M after closing 295 transactions. 47% of this amount was divested through \u201cSale to another Private Equity firm\u201d, 24% through \u201cSale to an industrial investor\u201d and 22% through \u201cShareholder buybacks\u201d.&nbsp;<strong>2.049M\u20ac<\/strong>&nbsp;tras cerrar 295 operaciones. El&nbsp;<strong>47%<\/strong>&nbsp;de dicha cantidad fue desinvertido mediante \u201c<strong>Venta a otra Entidad de Capital Privado\u201d<\/strong>\u201d, el&nbsp;<strong>24%<\/strong>&nbsp;como&nbsp;<strong>\u201cVenta a un inversor industrial\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;y el&nbsp;<strong>22%<\/strong>&nbsp;como&nbsp;<strong>\u201cRecompra de Accionistas\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jos\u00e9 Zudaire, general director of ASCRI<\/strong>, highlighted during the meeting the strong momentum of the Association, with a record number of members (190), as well as a wide variety of operator types. He stated: \u201cthese figures confirm the good health of the sector.
